Which acrylic art supplies do you need?
What are acrylics?
They are paints that are opaque in comparison to watercolors- which are transparent and let more light through.
Acrylics can be mixed with water or other mediums, such as gesso or gloss. They can be used with brushes or airbrushes.
Some people prefer acrylics because they are versatile and they dry relatively quickly compared to oils. They can be used straight from the tube for a dry paint effect, or mixed and thinned with water to a watercolor consistency, allowing for multiple layers of paint and glazing. Or, for thicker, three-dimensional effects and collages, acrylics can be mixed with texturizing gels. It all depends on what effect you are trying to achieve.
In addition, they can be used with other mediums, such as watercolors, colored pencils, pastels, and oils. You can paint with acrylics on any surface, including paper, illustration board, canvas, wood, murals. Acrylics can be used to create any type of painting- from abstract to super-realism.
